Today I have been having a lengthy conversation with Marie of vampireacademy.org.
A lot of topics have come up, but the issue troubling both of us the most at the moment is plagiarism within Vampire Academy fansites.
Here at shadowkissed.com we stick to Twilight Lexicons guidelines for blogging courtesy, but it appears that a number of site owners have no courtesy or respect at all.
We spend a lot of time on our sites. I personally spend more than 60 hours a week on shadowkissed.com… More than the equivalent of a full time working week, but I do not get paid for this. We do not have advertising, we do not have a shop or any other form of revenue. In fact we spend our own money bringing these sites to you.
But then along come other sites, who either do not know, or do not care about courtesy, and they copy our content word for word. Whether it is an exclusive product announcement, an opinion article, a news posting on site content. It doesn’t matter if your site is English, Spanish, Chinese or Russian that is not acceptable!
If you are another site that has done this in the past I suggest you read the blogging guidelines, we follow them and therefore I suggest you check out point 8. What happens if we catch you in the act.
You have been warned.
